BECOMING A
HABITAT
HOMEOWNER

Amarillo Habitat accepts new homeowner applications once a year in the fall. We will host an orientation regarding the application process and will be mailing you a postcard detailing the dates of the orientation in the fall, so be sure to fill out the information below to be put on our mailing list! 
 
 
You will need to meet the following requirements:

• Credit Score of 550 or higher
• Live within Randall or Potter Counties for the last 12 consecutive months
• Must meet income eligibility guidelines (on our website)
• Must have a housing need (on our website)
• Must have worked the same job, or in the same industry for the last
6 consecutive months (unless on SSI or Disability)
• Must be able to afford a home (determined when application is turned in)
   (New home cost must be under 30% of the applicants monthly income)
• No Registered Sex Offenders
• No bankruptcy within the last 7 years
• Must be willing to complete partnership requirements

To qualify, you must earn within 30-60% of the Median Family Income.

1 Person Household: $17,150 - $34,320
2 Person Household: $19,600 - $39,240
3 Person Household: $22,050 - $44,160
4 Person Household: $24,500 - $49,020
5 Person Household: $26,500 - $52,980
6 Person Household: $28,450 -$56,880

7 Person Household: $30,400 - $60,840
8 Person Household: $32,350 - $64,740

MONTHLY INCOME
1 Person Household: $1,429- $2,860
2 Person Household: $1,633 - $3,270
3 Person Household: $1,838 - $3,680
4 Person Household: $2,042 - $4,085
5 Person Household: $2,208 - $4,085
6 Person Household: $2,371 - $4,740

7 Person Household: $2,533 - $5,070
8 Person Household: $2,696 - $5,395


The following can be prepared prior to receiving your application at our fall
orientation for upcoming new homeowners:


• Federal Income Tax Returns for the last two years
• W-2s for the last two years
• Current Pay Stubs for the last 90 days
• Copies of ALL bills for the last 60 days
• Bank statements for the last 90 days (checking and savings)
• Current benefit statements
   (SSI, SSDI, Food Stamps, Section 8 Housing, etc)
• Child Support court order and payment history for the last two years
• Name, Address and Phone Number for current Landlord
• Proof of residency and eligibility to work in the US
• Social Security cards for each person living in the new home
• Birth Certificates for each person living in the new home
• Registration or Green Cards for each person living in the new home
• Driver’s License for each person living in the new home
